Storage tank inspection is essential for ensuring the safety and integrity of industrial facilities. Traditional inspection methods are often time-consuming, expensive and pose safety risks. The use of drones and advanced sensors provide an innovative and efficient way to conduct tank inspections.

Drones in tank inspections

Our drones are equipped with high-resolution cameras and ultrasonic sensors that can transmit real-time images and data. When inspecting storage tanks, drones can quickly and accurately map the outside and inside of tanks without putting inspectors in dangerous situations. This not only reduces the risk of accidents, but also minimizes plant shutdown time by not using scaffolding or aerial work platforms.

Wall thickness measurements

Measuring the wall thickness of storage tanks is crucial to detect corrosion and wear that can affect structural integrity. Traditionally, these measurements have been made with ultrasonic equipment by inspectors climbing or entering the tank. With the advent of drones, these measurements can now be performed remotely. Drones can be equipped with advanced sensors, such as ultrasonic measuring equipment, to accurately measure wall thicknesses without physical contact from inspectors.

We have both indoor and outdoor drone equipped with a UT wall thickness gauge. It is important for an indoor drone to be able to navigate without GPS and without interference from magnetic fields or metal objects. Also aar safety, our indoor drone features a permanent power cable which eliminates the use of highly flammable LiPo batteries.

Our drone inspections are performed by drone pilots are assisted by Level 2 NDT certified inspectors.

Benefits of drone inspections

Safety: It eliminates the need for human access to dangerous or hard-to-reach areas.

Efficiency: Inspections can be performed faster, leading to shorter shutdowns and lower costs.

Accuracy: Advanced sensors and cameras provide detailed and reliable data for in-depth analysis.
